Sandrobber the Dog needs a home
RC Sandrobber is a gorgeous tuxedo boy who is very sweet. The volunteers described him as being "Zen"--just a nice, calm boy. Sandrobber is a friendly boy who is a real leaner. Sandrobber is a stately, tall drink of water. He is 3 years old and cat tolerant with supervision.

RC Sandrobber will steal your heart! Born April 10, 2014, he’s a gorgeous boy with a sleek black coat and white chest and “platform” feet. He adjusted quickly to the routine of our busy family and home and has been an absolute pleasure to host. He recognizes the adults and kids in the house as alpha to him and has attached himself to his foster dad, following him wherever he goes. Here’s what you need to know about Sandrobber:
- Quite independent; our educated guess is that he would be fine as an “only dog” in his adopter’s home, but would also be fine with other dogs.
- Sleeps through the night on a dog bed in our bedroom.
- Does well in his crate while we are at work or school.
- Gets along with our two male greyhounds (a goofy 9-year-old and a 13-year-old elder statesman).
- Does well with our dog-friendly kids, ages 12 and 16.
- Mastered the stairs and walking on our wood/tile/laminate flooring (the stairs are carpeted).
- Eats well; has shown no food aggression.
- Travels well in the car.
- Walks well on a leash.
- Will make a fantastic “ambassadog” -- he is sociable.
- Is good with cats. He’s curious about them and keeps tabs on where they are and what they’re doing, but doesn’t chase them.
- Corrects well.
What to watch for:
- Like many dogs, Sandrobber doesn’t like to be disturbed by other when he’s on his dog bed and has given them a low, murmured growl if they step on his bed (or him). We’ve tested him by doing this to him ourselves (standing over him while he’s on his bed, walking right next to the dog bed when he’s on it) and he has not growled at us.
- We’ve caught him “counter surfing” (front feet up on the counter) and correct him when we catch him; he corrects very well.
- During his first few days, he had some accidents and the house and would mark, but this hasn’t happened for the last 4 days. He’s adjusted well to our schedule and understanding what is expected of him.
